Insofar as no substance a person can consume for the sake of ‘getting high’, or even for the sake of, say, ‘therapy’, can contribute to a person’s sanctity, or virtue. And in fact will mostly likely do the opposite; that is, will be harmful to a person’s moral life, to the extent that such a substance, when used for such ends, puts an end to sobriety, and encourages a focus on ego, or self.
