Though really there are no aspects of the faith that are, strictly speaking, ‘esoteric’. All of the faith is of one piece, insofar as those aspects find their basis in Scripture, Teaching, or Tradition. Perhaps what I ought to say is that the prophetic arm of the faith is not given as much emphasis, in the ministry of the Church, as are, say, the message of the Gospel, the administering of the sacraments, and the works of spiritual and corporal mercy. Which, I suspect, is as it should be. Meaning, I trust that the Church, in her wisdom, recognizes what the world most needs from her, and provides it.
