After all, if we didn’t know as much as we do now about the movement of the planets and the stars, in relation to each other, one couldn’t be blamed for assuming it was distance, rather than tilt, or angle, that causes the change in light and in the seasons. Or, anyway, could not be said to have abandoned the use of reason.
