I say ‘conducting’, but really the angel is only watching over them, hovering behind them with hands outstretched. The two children are unaware of its presence. The older of the children, a girl, is in fact leading the other child, and comforting it. She has her arm around the younger one’s shoulders, and appears to be whispering in its ear.
